Yes. During your child’s treatment sessions, we will be hands-on. This will be either to help encourage normal movement patterns, challenge your child greater, or to teach you how to do the exercises at home. It is important that each session has elements of letting your child learn to move without help (independently) as this helps increase their own learning through error.
We work with a number of private allied health professionals (Occupational Therapists, Orthotists, Speech-language therapists) who have experience within the field of paediatrics. If you are looking for any recommendations we are happy to help.
With the development of Telly health (virtual assessments), we can now help children around New Zealand. Baby development is ideal to be completed virtually as the basis of our assessments is observing how your child moves and interacts with their environment. The specialised assessment called General Movements is based on video assessment only and is part of the gold standard assessment for children who have risk factors for Cerebral Palsy.
For children with possible coordination or movement problems, we can use visual assessment to test how strong they are and how well they move through activities such as jumping and hopping.
